What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Home » Privacy Policy

Whenever you contact us, place an order or book a photography course we inevitably collect some personal data about you, which will be stored on our database.

Course and tour bookings, as well as online purchase orders of prints, cards and books, are stored on our computer and in paper form in our office. For e-mail newsletter subscriptions, contact details are held by Mailchimp, our selected automated e-mailing service. Purchase information (but not your credit/debit card details) that you enter when booking a course or tour, or when buying a gift voucher is held securely by Stripe, our chosen online shop software provider.

At no time are any of your details passed to any other party for any purpose.

We use the database primarily to keep track of bookings, sales and buying patterns, but we may occasionally use it to let you know of any special offers or new products or services becoming available (via the e-mail newsletter), provided of course that you have signed up for it.

If you would prefer not to receive such information, you can unsubscribe at any time either by clicking ‘Unsubscribe’ at the bottom of the newsletter, or by letting us know by e-mail at info@nigelhicks.com. Your personal data will be deleted at this time.

If you would like to inspect how we store your details you are free to do so. Just contact us to arrange an office visit.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our blog we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you leave a comment on our blog you may opt in to saving your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
