Sept/Day 4: Weather-permitting, we drive up to the glaciers on the slopes of Mt Snaefellsjökull, and then cross over to the south side of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We then visit the magnificent lava cliffs and natural sculptures along the coast at such places as Dritvik, Skarsdvik and Skalasnagi. The day finishes with dusk and night photography of the coastline and night sky. Accommodation in Arnastapi or Hellnar, on the south coast of the peninsula.
Sept/Day 5: The day starts with photography of the cliffs and coves Arnastapi and Hellnar. We then leave the Snaefellsnes peninsula behind, detouring inland and finishing the day in the Reykholt area. Accommodation will be in or near Reykholt.
Sept/Day 6: We head first to the lovely Hraunfossar Falls and the nearby Barnafoss Falls. From here the road gives a taste of the wild, rugged interior Highlands, skirting past the Langjökull icecap, as our route cuts through the Kaldidalur valley, leading us southwards back towards Reykjavik. Accommodation in Reykjavik. The tour officially ends upon our return to Reykjavik.
Sept: Departure from Iceland. Although the tour will have ended, for those staying on at least until late in this day, we may be able to do some photography around Reykjavik.
Night sky photography: Every night spent outside Reykjavik will be in places where there is very little light pollution, presenting the possibility of some great night sky photography every night, assuming suitable weather conditions. This includes possible Northern Lights photography, should they perform.
