General photographic techniques are covered, highlighting those aspects where digital photography differs from film. Photographed largely by Nigel Hicks and written by ornithologist Tim Fisher, this is the first ever book to cover birds of the Philippines photographically. A gargantuan task, given the difficulties involved in photographing wildlife in the Philippine forests, this book, although not covering the country's full species list, represents an extremely valuable tool in the further understanding of Philippine wildlife, and serves as a perfect field guide.

wpe8.jpg (5529 bytes)

First published in 1996, second edition in 1999, by New Holland Publishers. A coffee table book, photographed by Nigel Hicks and written by John MacKinnon (previously of WWF, author of China's panda management plan). This beautiful book illustrated with over 300 photographs covers many of China's protected wild areas, looking both at their landscape and their fauna and flora. The first book in many years to show the natural history of this vast country, photos and text cover the natural world from lowland tropical rainforests of the south to the taiga of the far north, lowland marshes and woodlands of the east, to the deserts and mountains of the west and the high altitude plateaus of Tibet.
