We’ve finally nailed down all the details for the 2016 Iceland photography tour. The essential details are that dates are 11-17 Sept, so seven days/six nights, starting and finishing in Reykjavik, and travelling along the south coast as far as the port town of Höfn. Photo locations will range from waterfalls to dry lava fields, rugged glacier-topped volcanoes to black sand beaches, iceberg-filled lagoons to spouting geysirs. Oh, and of course, there are always (hopefully!) the Northern Lights…

We’ve just finished putting the 2016 programme for our one-day photography courses. It’s quite a comprehensive list of events across Devon, southwest England, mostly in April, May, June and October.
Prices have, once again, been held at £85 per person per course.

Of course we’re biased, but…. This year’s photo tour to Iceland (held 14-19th Sept) was a hugely enjoyable trip, and photographically massively successful. Nine people came along on the tour, which - using our own minibus - took in much of Iceland’s south coast. We had great weather almost the whole time (rain only on the very final day), and even the Northern Lights cooperated, putting on a couple of nighttime shows. A gallery of images shot by Nigel can be seen by clicking here. We’re hoping to be able to put together a gallery of images by the participants shortly.
Nigel has just finished a two-week photo shoot in Ireland, photographing across both the Republic and Northern Ireland, taking in coasts, mountains and cities, natural landscapes and people and lifestyles. The shoot was done as a project for Swiss magazine L’Information Immobilière, who have commissioned Nigel to supply an article about Ireland. An initial sample gallery of images taken during that shoot can be seen here…. >
Nigel’s photography has just won global recognition at the International Color Awards, a prestigious photography competition held annually in Los Angeles. With an image called ‘In Search of Surf’, showing surfers on the beach at Saunton Sands, on the north coast of Devon, southwest England, Nigel won an ‘Honorable Mention’ in the Professionals’ Silhouette category. The winning image is shown on the right.
After resisting pressure from various quarters for several years, Nigel has finally delved into the difficult world of food photography. Persuaded by management at the Costa Pacifica Hotel on the Pacific coast of the Philippines during a recent photo shoot there, Nigel generated quite an interesting set of foodie images, which have convinced him that it is perfectly feasible, despite its reputation for being one of the hardest fields in photography. So if you need to have some food photography done, please get in touch!
On 22nd April Nigel gave a talk about property photography to the Exeter conference of the National Association of Estate Agents. Nigel started by pointing out to the audience of over 100 of southwest England’s estate agents that, although photography is their window to the world for their clients’ properties, their photography is sometimes not as good as it could be. He then went on to explain, through a series of images, the steps and techniques needed to turn out the kind of high quality photography that their clients should expect. Despite its somewhat critical angle, the talk seemed to go down well, and resulted in some discussion during the following lunch.
Nigel has just published a new e-book, called The Panda’s Tale, a travelogue about his photographic journeys around China, photographing the country's wildlife and natural landscapes. The travelling took him across the whole country, penetrating many of its remotest corners, exploring forests, mountains and deserts, from the Korean border to Tibet and much else besides. The work turned into an epic adventure, captured in The Panda's Tale.
