Course location: Around the harbour and along the beaches and cliffs at Lyme Regis and Charmouth, Dorset.
Times: 10 am to 5 pm
Price: £95 per person
The day will cover coastal landscape photography, starting with general harbour and beach scenes around Lyme Regis, followed by (as the tide drops) a walk out along Monmouth Beach to the west to photograph some of the giant fossils visible here. This will be followed by a trip to Charmouth (we’ll drive), a few miles east, where we’ll do more beach and cliff photography. If time permits, the day will finish with photography in the coastal woodlands of the Axmouth-Lyme Undercliffs National Nature Reserve, just west of Lyme Regis.
The course will aim to teach the following skills:
Participants should have at least an understanding of what shutter speed and lens aperture mean, plus a knowledge of how to operate their own camera in order to get at least basic images. Beyond this, the main requirements are enthusiasm, an open mind and a readiness to learn!
Note: Since we’ll be working outdoors, what we are able to do during the day is very weather-dependent. Weather conditions may make it necessary to vary the itinerary.
