Course location: Crow Point and Braunton Burrows National Nature Reserve, north Devon.
Times: 1pm to 7pm approx
Price: £90 per person.
This day of landscape and nature photography will start at the dramatic Crow Point, in the mouth of the Taw and Torridge Rivers, a place of sand dunes, surf and wrecked boats, a great place for some coastal landscape photography.
From here, we’ll move to the nearby Braunton Burrows, a vast expanse of dunes that are a national nature reserve, renowned for their vast array of wild flowers. Here, we’ll continue with some landscape photography, though the main emphasis will be on some of the many flowers, which will include several species of orchids, greater rattle, viper’s bugloss and the delicate sea pansy.
The course will aim to teach the following skills:
Participants should have an understanding of what shutter speed and lens aperture mean, plus a knowledge of how to operate their own camera in order to get at least basic images. Participants using a DSLR camera should also have at least basic close-up/macro equipment (not needed for anyone using a compact camera) and a tripod.
Note: Since we’ll be working outdoors, what we are able to do during the day is very weather-dependent. Weather conditions may make it necessary to vary the itinerary.
